As of our publication date, Bezos is estimated to have a net worth of $110 billion, and Gates is estimated to have a net worth of $105 billion.
Bezos first kicked the Microsoft co-founder out of the top spot in fall 2017.
"An Amazon worker earning the $15 minimum wage would need to work about 597,412 hours, or 24 hours a day for about 68 years, just to earn what Bezos makes in one hour," Business Insider reported.
Harvard University has an endowment of $38.3 billion, the University of Texas system has an endowment of $30.9 billion and Yale University has an endowment of $29.4 billion.
"I am going to use my financial lottery winnings from Amazon to fund that," he told Business Insider.
However, it’s unlikely he’ll do so. The billionaire continues to face criticism for not pledging to donate the majority of his fortune to charity the way his peers Buffett and Bill Gates have done.
